Why Use A Screenplay Service?
Are you confident that your first screenplay is on the mark with industry standards and convention?
There are many screenplay resources and services with many approaches to screenwriting. What matters is a clear and presentable result on paper/screen.
Screenplay services exist because the world of screenwriting is unregulated, and yet has certain expectations. There is no central authority and rule set, however, there are certain constraints to follow and generally accepted conventions. Therefore, you want a gate keeper to ensure you have a polished screenplay which will be accepted by the industry and not cast out because they couldn't interpret your version of screenwriting.
A good screenplay must not lead to confusion, where the crew struggle to decipher your script, causing production delays on set and escalating costs.
Confused Film Crew
In reality, a confusing script wouldn't get through, and not pass the 'Shooting Script' stage, where your screenplay is progressed to fit the requirements of the production team.
The point is to not submit your screenplay with ambiguity, confusion, or unclear action. If you don't fully understand how filming works, then it is possible that some of your action description may not read as well as it should, or even present the opposite of what you meant.

Script Coverage
Screenplay Prep is NOT a script coverage service. There are many services out there offering to read your script and provide feedback along with scoring charts and the like. I don't believe that these are useful to the new screenwriter, and it also boils down to opinion.
Being turned down can really strangle your ego. Many big authors and screenwriters have been turned down in the past, only to make it later on.
Constructive criticism is useful, and we mustn't pussyfoot around either, as is commonplace these days, but the current trend of reader services is misplaced. Better to get help, opinion, guidance during your screenwriting process. Readers cannot second guess what the industry wants either, so just because you get a "fail" it doesn't mean that you are doomed. Why pay money for that?

Born in South Africa and educated in England, I have lived in five countries across four continents. This has provided a wide breadth and scope fueling my imagination and writing. Following Art School with an additional English degree, my film journey began at Warner Bros.
For over twenty-five years, story and screen entertainment have been an enjoyable part of my career. Loving what you do is so important. Passion will lead to your goals, and so Screenplay Prep is the fruit of my own journey.
With an array of industry experience, at Warner Bros, Amblin Entertainment and Framestore, film terminology and boundaries are no longer a myth and the task of writing action description comes quite naturally to me.
