YouTube Shorts - Video Reference

I am using YouTube's new Video Shorts to your advantage by creating a library of visual footage for screenwriting reference. These are 1 minute videos showing various aspects of environments, weather, action, props to make your action description writing easier.

Whilst photos can provide visual reference, seeing things in moving space gives you more accurate information about how objects and scenes relate and change over time. This makes better reference material to help you describe your story in more exciting detail.

You don't want to over describe your scenes, but it makes a more interesting read if you pick up on details which aren't obvious and paint a fascinating picture. This introductory video pitches what the Screenplay Prep YouTube Video Shorts will be about.

Simply put, you might have a storm in your story. It may be relevant to describe the type of rainfall as it affects how the killer might move from one location to another. Setting the scene well and establishing the real significance of the downpour can be achieved by watching footage of rain. But is it tropical or are you in New York city?

Watching the appropriate reference can help you pick out specific details which might be unique to each environment.
